 Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas (born on the 13th of October, 1980) is an American musician, singer, record producer, model, and actress. When she was a teen, she was discovered and signed by Murder Inc. Records. [4] She was also included on Fat Joe's "What’s Luv?" in 2002. as well as Ja Rule's "Always on Time" The two songs were two of the biggest hit songs of 2002. The song is referred to as the Princess of Hip-Hop. She was the first female artist to hold the top two positions on the U.S. She was capable of charting on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously with "Foolish", and "What's Liv?" at number one and two, respectively In 2002, Ashanti made her debut album eponymous, and sold more than 505,000 copies throughout the U.S. in its first week of release. Ashanti was awarded numerous awards for her album that included eight Billboard Music Awards and two American Music Awards. She also won an Grammy Award in 2003, for the Best Contemporary R&B Album. It was later certified triple platinum in the United States and had sold 6 million copies in the world by 2003. With "Foolish", she became only the second musician (after The Beatles) to have their first three chart entries in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously. Ashanti wrote and sang for Jennifer Lopez's "Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix)" that also reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
