Cate Blanchett

 Catherine Elise Blanchett, AC (/blaentSIt/) was born on 14 May 1969. She is an Australian actor and television producer. She is regarded as one of the best actresses her generation. Her versatility in independent and blockbuster films has earned her the reputation for being a great performer. She has won numerous awards including two Academy Awards, three British Academy Film Awards as well as three Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for a Tony Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards.After graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Blanchett began her acting career on the Australian stage, starring in the roles of Electra in 1992 and Hamlet in 1994. International attention was paid to her role in the role of Elizabeth I in Elizabeth (1998). She received the Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award. She received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Katharine Hepburn, Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator (2004). In the following year, she was awarded the Academy Award as Best Actress for her role as an ex-socialite with a neurotic personality in Woody Allen’s comedy-drama Blue Jasmine (2013). Blanchett was also nominated for Oscars for her roles in Notes on a Scandal (2006) and I'm not There (2007). She was also nominated for Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) and Carol (2015). She is the most nominated Australian at the Academy Awards with seven nominations. Blanchett has appeared in more than 20 productions in the theatre. Between 2008 and 2013, she and her husband Andrew Upton, were the artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company. During that time, she was involved in numerous revivals of A Streetcar Named Desire and Uncle Vanya. She also received theatre awards and nominations for her roles in Gross und klein and The Maids. In 2017 she made her Broadway debut with The Present. She was nominated for the Tony Award as Best Actress in a Play. Blanchett was also nominated by Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress or Movie in the form of a Limited Series, and Outstanding Limited Series Producer for FX/Hulu's historical drama miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
