Lyrical Lemonade was initially created by Bennett as an online blog when at the high school of Plano, Illinois. Bennett was encouraged by his mom to come up with the name, and she provided him with the camera. He began directing music videos for Chicago rappers Vic Mensa, Taylor Bennett and many others. The videos were posted to Lyrical Lemonade, along with show recaps, documentaries, interviews, and live shows. The channel grew to include different sub-genres of hip-hop outside of the Chicago scene, such as the Soundcloud Rap sub-genre. The channel first became popular in the years 2016 and 2017, when he collaborated with artists such as Lil Pump and Smokepurpp. The first short film he directed, "Lone Springs", was released on April 7, 2017. He was the director of the music video for Lil Xan's hit single "Betrayed" in August of 2017. The song was certified Platinum by RIAA in the year 2018. [4] He also produced music videos for a variety of popular songs, including "Betrayed", "Ski Mask the Slump God", "BabyWipe", "Red Roses" by Lil Skies, "Nowadays" by YBN Nahmir, and "Red Roses" that was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2018.
