Francine Joy Drescher was born on September 30, 1957. She is an American comedian writer, activist, and trade union leader. She is known for her character Fran Fine on the tv sitcom The Nanny (1993-1999), which she created and produced along with her husband, Peter Marc Jacobson.Drescher made her debut on screen with an uncredited role in the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever and later made an appearance in American Hot Wax (1978) and Wes Craven's horror tale Stranger in Our House (1978). She gained fame in the 1980s as a comic actress in films such as Gorp (1980) and The Hollywood Knights(80), Doctor Detroit (1983), This Is Spinal Tap (84), and UHF (1989). In addition to developing her career in the television industry She also made guest appearances on several television series. Her popularity grew significantly in 1993 when she appeared on Fran Fine, her sitcom, The Nanny. She was nominated two times for Emmy Awards and twice for Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress. In the early 2000s, Drescher starred in the sitcoms Living with Fran and Happily Divorced. She has been a star in animated Hotel Transylvania films since 2012. On February 4, 2014 Drescher was cast as Madame Drescher's stepmother in Cinderella. She starred as Madame in the NBC sitcom Indebted in 2020.
