George Edward Foreman, born on January 10, 1949 George Edward Foreman, born January 10, 1949, is an American former professional boxer, entrepreneur, and minister. He was popularly known as "Big George" in boxing and fought from 1967 until 1997. Foreman was an Olympic gold medalist as well as two-time heavyweight champion around the globe. Foreman is most well-known as an entrepreneur, primarily for his George Foreman Grill. After an unhappy growing up, Foreman began amateur boxing and was awarded the gold medal for the heavyweight division at the 1968 Summer Olympics. He made the transition to professional boxing in 1973, claiming the title of world heavyweight champion by beating Joe Frazier during the second round. After twice defending the belt and losing his first professional loss against Muhammad Ali in 1974's Rumble in the Jungle. Following his loss to Jimmy Young in 1977, Foreman made the decision to quit. He later became an licensed Christian minister. A decade later Foreman made a comeback and regained the unification WBA as well as the IBF heavyweight titles. He beat 26-year-old Michael Moorer. Instead of facing his obligatory title defense, he resigned the WBA title. Then, following one title defense against Axel Schulz on June 28 in 1995, Foreman was also stripped of his IBF title. The age was 46 and was 169 days old. 6 Foreman 46 years old and aged 169 days, was awarded the title of world heavyweight boxer of major honours. He is also ranked second in the weight class after Bernard Hopkins (at light-heavyweight). At the age of 48 Foreman was ended his career with 76 wins (68 knockouts) and five loss.
