Kate Winslet

 Kate Elizabeth Winslet CBE (/'wInzl@t/;[2] born on 5 October 1975) is an English actress. [3] Known for her work in independent films, particularly period dramas, as well as for her portrayals of strong and complicated women, she has been awarded many awards which include an Academy Award, a Grammy Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards, three BAFTA Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine named Winslet among the 100 most influential people across the globe in both 2009 and 2021. In 2012, she was appointed the Commander of the Order of the British Empire. When she was 15 her first appearance on screen was in the British TV series Dark Season (1991). Her film debut came in as a teenage murderess on Heavenly Creatures (1994), and then went on to win the BAFTA Award for playing Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility (1995). Her international fame was boosted by her role as the lead in the epic romance Titanic (1997), which was the highest-grossing film at the time. Winslet later opted out of roles in blockbusters in favour of critically acclaimed period films, such as Quills (2000) and Iris (2001).The science fiction romantic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) the film, where Winslet was cast against type in a modern setting, was a pivotal moment in her career and she was recognized for her performances in Finding Neverland (2004), Little Children (2006), Revolutionary Road (2008), and The Reader (2008). In the latter, for her role as an ex- Nazi camp guard in the former film, she received the BAFTA Award and the Academy Award for Best Actress. Winslet's portrayal as Joanna Hoffman in the biopic Steve Jobs (2015) earned her another BAFTA Award. She also won two Primetime Emmy Awards in recognition for her work in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011) and Mare at Easttown (2012).
