Virginia Gayle Madsen, born September 11, 1961 (previously known as 1], is an American actress from the United States. Her first film was Class (1983) in which was shot in Chicago. David Lynch, the director of the science fiction film Dune (1984) was the director who made her the Princess Irulan following her move to Los Angeles. Madsen was a star in a number of films for teens that were successful, such as Electric Dreams (1984), Modern Girls ( 1986) and Fire with Fire (1986). Madsen was also recognized for her performance as Helen Lyle, the main character in the horror film Candyman (1992). Madsen was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Alexander Payne's comedy-drama Sideways (2004).
