Jayson Christopher Tatum Jr. (/'teIt^m born on March 3 1998) is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The former McDonald's All-American in high school in Missouri He played in the NCAA Division I basketball with the Duke Blue Devils. He was chosen with the third overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 2017 NBA draft. Tatum, an three-time NBA All-Star selection, and a two-time All-NBA player was selected as the NBA Eastern Conference Finals Most Valuable Player 2022. He helped the Celtics get to their NBA Finals. Tatum also earned a gold medal on the 2020 U.S. Olympic team in Tokyo Tatum attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Tatum averaged 13.3 points per game as a freshman and was awarded the Metro Catholic Conference Co Player of the Year in 2013. His performance have led the Red Devils (MCC) to the Missouri District 2 championships. Tatum averaged 26.0 points per game as a sophomore in 2014. Tatum earned Second-team Naismith Trophy All-American honors. In the summer of 2015, Tatum joined the St. Louis Eagles Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team on the highly intense Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) Circuit. The Eagles defeated Harry Giles, future Duke teammate and Team CP3 74-73 at the Nike Peach Jam Semi-Finals. Tatum scored a game-winning buzzer-beater that took the game to victory and sent them to the final game. Tatum had 28 points and five rebounds. [3] On July 12, Tatum tallied 24 points seven rebounds and 4 blocks in a 104-77 loss against the Georgia Stars and future Duke one-and-done Wendell Carter Jr. in the 2015 Nike Peach Jam championship game. In the Circuit, Tatum led the EYBL in scoring, averaging 26.5 points and 9.5 Rebounds per game.Prior to the start of his senior season, Tatum made a verbal commitment to Duke University over North Carolina, Kentucky, and his father's Alma mater, Saint Louis University. [5][6][7] His senior-year highlights included a 40-point, 17-rebound game against Bentonville High School's Malik Monk.[8] A 46-point game against Huntington Prep.[9] And a final 40-point game against DeMatha Catholic High School. Tatum was a senior in the year 2015-16 and was averaging 29.6 and 9.1 rebounds. Tatum also had six games of 40-points, leading Chaminade during the second round of Missouri Class 5A. Tatum was selected to the 2016 McDonald's All-American Game. He won the Skills competition and dominated the East Team with 18 points with 8 rebounds in the loss of 114-107.
