Walter Bruce Willis (born March 19th, 1955) is a retired American actor. He gained fame for his leading role on the comedy-drama series Moonlighting (1985-1989) and appeared in more than a hundred films, gaining recognition as an action hero following his portrayal as John McClane in the Die Hard franchise (1988-2013) as well as other roles. Other credits for Willis include The Last Boy Scout (1991), The Death He Takes His Place (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), 12 Monkeys (1997), Armageddon (1998), The Sixth Sense (99), Unbreakable (2000) and Sin City (2005). Moonrise Kingdom (2012) is Looper (2012). In the later period of his career, Willis played in a variety of low-budget direct-to-video movies, which were not well received. In the month of March, 2022 Willis's family announced his retirement after being diagnosed with aphasia which can affect language cognition.As an actor, Willis released his debut album, The Return of Bruno, in 1987, and then two more albums in 1989 and 2001. The singer made his Broadway debut in the stage production of Misery in 2015. He has been awarded numerous times throughout his career, including a Golden Globe Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2006, he was awarded a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. Films featuring Willis have grossed between US$2.64 billion and $3.05 billion at North American box offices, making him in 2010 the eighth-highest-grossing actor in a leading role.
