Neal was a guest star on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He appeared as an alleged rapist in the Season 3 episode "Ridicule". Neal was first introduced as the Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak on the fifth season. She was replaced by Stephanie March who played Alexandra Cabot. Neal continued to perform the role of Novak until the end of season 9 after which she was censured and removed from the series. Neal was Novak later during Season 12, "Reparations," in which Novak return to SVU as the interim ADA. The character was a regular in Season 13. The last time she was seen was in the episode "Valentine's Day". Neal spoke that of her return to the show in Season 13 of TV Guide, "It's back on track to what SVU was meant to be about, which is about sexual crimes and crimes against children. It's got more of a gritty, nitty feel." She claims that March's and her return to the fictional universe of the show provided familiarity for viewers after the departure of the original cast member Chris Meloni's departure.
