Stephen Glenn Martin was born on August 14, 1945. He is an actor, comedian, and writer from the United States. Martin has been awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 2013 and has also received five Grammy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2016, he was nominated for two Tony Awards. Martin has received the Kennedy Center Honors, the Mark Twain Prize as well as the AFI Life Achievement Award. Comedy Central placed Martin sixth on its list of stand-up comedians who are 100. The Guardian ranked Martin sixth on a list of the 100 stand-up comics who are the best. Martin first came to prominence in the 1960s, when he wrote for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Later, he was a regular host of Saturday Night Live. Martin's humorous and offbeat routines became a hit during the 1970s, when they were performed in crowds of theaters during national tours. Martin was a retired comedian from stand-up comedy by the 1980s, is an actor with a lot of success and has appeared in films like The Jerk (1979), Dead Men Don't wear Plaid(82), The Man with Two Brains (83), All of Me (86), Three Amigos (1886), Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1887), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (88), L.A. Story (1991), Bowfinger (1999) and Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003) Martin also appeared in a variety of family-oriented films which include Parenthood (1989), Father of the Bride (1991-1995) and All of Me (1984) and Three Amigos (1986) and Three Amigos (1986), and Bowfinger (1999).
