Ayn Rand

Alice O'Connor, born Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum. [cFebruary 2, [O.S. January 20th, 1905 - March 6 1982) is better known under her pen name Ayn Rand (/aInAyn Rand/) was born in Russia. She was an American writer and philosopher. Her fiction is well-known and so is her development of the philosophical framework she named Objectivism. She was born in Russia and raised there. In 1926, she immigrated to the United States. Her 1943 novel, The Fountainhead, was her first success. Also, she wrote two Broadway plays as well as a failed novel. In the year 1957, Rand published her best-known work, the novel Atlas Shrugged. Rand published her most well-known novel, Atlas Shrugged, in 1957. She continued to publish non-fiction up until her death in 1982. She was a supporter of ethical and rational egoism, and she rejected the notion of altruism. In politics, she condemned the use of force for the purpose of being immoral and opposed collectivism, anarchism, and statism. She supported laissez-faire capitalism instead, which she defined as a system that recognizes individual rights and private property rights. Even though Rand was against libertarianism, that she believed was anarchism, she is frequently associated with the contemporary libertarian movement of the United States. Rand was a strong advocate of romantic realist art. She was highly critical of most philosophers and philosophical traditions known to her, except for Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, and the classical liberals.Rand's novels have sold over 37 million copies. Literary critics gave her fiction mixed reviews, with some expressing more disapproval for her later works. While academic interest in her work has grown since her death, academic philosophers generally have resisted or ignored her theories due to her polemical approach and insufficient methodological rigor. Her writings have had a political impact on some right-libertarians, as well being a source of criticism for conservatives. The Objectivist movement is attempting to make her ideas to be disseminated to the public.
