Kim Se-jeong

 In 2012, Kim participated in the second season of the competition TV show K-pop Star 2. She was 16. Although she did not make the second round ranking audition, Yang Hyun-suk invited her back to be a wildcard in the final casting round. Kim performed a duet from Taeyang's "I Need A Girl" along with Jo Yoo-min. 9. Yang cast the two of them together, putting Kim together with contestants Nicole Curry and Lee Soo-kyung for the final casting round. At the end of the round, she was eliminated from the competition.In January of 2016, Kim represented Jellyfish Entertainment together with fellow trainees Kim Na-young and Kang Mi-na on the reality survival show Produce 101, where they took on the challenge of making their be the first to appear in the Mnet project girl group. 11. Kim was assigned to "Group A" for the premiere episode. She also earned the nickname "God Sejeong" and the first-place rating in numerous episodes. The show came to an end on April 1st, 2016, and the final lineup of I.O.I, consisting of the top 11 poll-winners, was announced. Kim received 525,352 votes and was officially admitted to I.O.I, was named the runner up contestant. The album Chrysalis' lead single, "Dream Girls", was released on May 4, 2016. 14 I.O.I was promoted for just one year before officially disbanding on January 17, 2017. After the expiration of their contracts, the members were reunited with their respective agencies.
