Samuel Eto'o

 Samuel Eto'o Fils (French pronunciation: [samYel eto fis] born 10 March, 1981) is a Cameroonian football manager and former player who will be the head of the Cameroonian Football Federation starting 11 December 2021. When he was at his peak Eto'o was considered by pundits as one of the best strikers in the world, and is considered to be one of the greatest African footballers of all time. He won the African Player of the Year a record four times in 2003 2004 and 2005 and 2010.A precocious talent, Eto'o joined Real Madrid as a 16 year old. Due to the fact that he was competing for his spot with older players, he had several loan spells before joining Mallorca in 2000 where he scored 70 goals. His impressive form saw him sign with Barcelona in 2004, where he scored 130 goals over five seasons and also became the record holder of the highest number of appearances played by an African player in La Liga. He won La Liga three times and was an integral player in the Barcelona attack. Eto'o scored the final. In 2009, he was part of a front three consisting comprising Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Eto'o who scored again in the final. Eto'o is the second player in the history of football to score two UEFA Champions League finals. He finished third in the FIFA World Player of the year in Barcelona in 2005. He was also included in the FIFA FIFPro World XI in 2005 and 2006. In 2009-10 the season he joined Inter Milan, where he became the first European player to earn two continental trebles. After Marcel Desailly and Paulo Sousa and Gerard Pique who won the trophy twice in Champions League history with different teams, Eto’o signed with Inter Milan for the 2009-10 season. He scored a lot of goals during the Super Lig with Antalyaspor, scoring 44 goals in 76 league games. He received the Golden Foot Award in 2015. As a Cameroon national soccer player, Eto'o was part of the team that took home the Gold Medal at the 2000 Olympics. He was also awarded the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 and 2000. Eto'o has participated in the four World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations. He is the top scorer of the Africa Cup of Nations, with 18 goals, and is Cameroon's top scorer and third most captained player, scoring 56 goals in 118 caps. In August of 2014, Eto'o announced that he would be retiring from international football.
