Hannigan was selected to play Willow Rosenberg, Buffy Summersher best friend in the 1997 TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hannigan's performance was hugely successful and was featured in numerous films aimed at teens, including American Pie (1999), Boys and Girls ((2000), American Pie 2 (2002) and American Wedding (2004). In a handful of episodes, she was also seen in the role of Willow on Angel which was the Buffy spinoff. The final Buffy episode aired on May 20 in 2003. 11] The Angel episode "Orpheus" where Hannigan was last seen, aired on March 19th in 2004.
