 Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, West gained recognition as a producer at Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, releasing singles for several artists and developing the "chipmunk soul" sampling style. Intent on pursuing an independent career as a rapper the artist released his debut studio album The College Dropout (2004), to critical and commercial success. The following year, he founded GOOD Music. With the albums Late Registration (2005) and Graduation (2006), West experimented with a range of musical elements like synthesizers, orchestras and autotune. The critical and commercial success of his fifth and sixth albums, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010), and Yeezus (2013) was also evident. West broadened his musical palette by releasing The Life of Pablo (2016), Ye (2018) and Jesus Is King (2019). His tenth album Donda (2021) came out to continued commercial success but mixed critical reception. His discography also includes the two full-length albums Watch the Throne (2011) and Kids See Ghosts (2018) and was co-produced by Jay-Z. He is the joint-tenth-most Grammy nominees and has received 22 Grammy Awards. Among his other awards are the Billboard Artist Achievement Award, a joint-record three Brit Awards for Best International Male Solo Artist and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.Six of his albums were listed on Rolling Stone's 2020 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, with the same publication declaring him to be one of the 100 Greatest songwriters of All Time. 9 He holds the record for greatest number of albums (4) with Bob Dylan. This is in addition to having the fifth most appearances on Billboard Hot 100 (133). Time has named him among the top 100 influential people in the world in 2005 and 2015. As a fashion designer he has collaborated with Nike and Louis Vuitton, Gap, and A.P.C. on clothing and footwear and was the lead designer for the Yeezy collaboration with Adidas. He is also the founder and director of the innovative content company Donda.West's open-minded views have earned him considerable media attention; he is a frequent source of controversy due to his conduct on social media [12] and at public awards shows and settings, as well as his opinions about the fashion and music industries, U.S. politics, slavery, and race. In addition, media attention has been focused on his Christian faith, celebrity wedding to Kim Kardashian and mental health. In 2020, West launched an unsuccessful independent presidential campaign that primarily focused on a consistent lifestyle ethics. In 2022, he was widely condemned and lost many sponsors and partnerships--including his collaborations with Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga--after making a series of antisemitic statements. [15[16] He declared his presidential candidacy for 2024 in the fall of 2022. He was seen in public with Nick Fuentes (a white supremacist). Then, he spoke out in support of Adolf Hitler and denied the Holocaust. He was also identified as a Nazi.
