Self-esteem

 Self-esteem is the confidence one has in one's capabilities and self-worth. Self-esteem refers to beliefs about oneself, such as "I am loved", or "I'm worthy", as well as emotions like triumph, despair and self-confidence. Smith and Mackie (2007) defined it by saying "The self-concept is how we think about the self Self-esteem refers to the positive or negative evaluations of the self, as in what we think about it. "Self-esteem is an attractive psychological construct because it predicts certain outcomes, such as academic achievement,[3][4] happiness,[5satisfaction in marriages and relationships,[6] and criminal conduct. Self-esteem may be applied to specific attributes or globally. Psychologists view self-esteem as an ongoing personality characteristic (trait-self-esteem) however there are also common temporary variations. Synonyms and near-synonyms for self-esteem include self-worth, self-respect, self-worth Self-worth, selfintegrity, and self-esteem.
